In architecture, the term As Built refers to a study of all existing measures and proportions in buildings, marked by the contractor to showhow the building was actually built versus the wai it was originally designed. In the work by the brothers João and Pedro Nitsche on the façade of the gallery, the procedure shows the differente measures and proportions of the gallery. In addition, their intervention opens the group exhibition by mirroring the dimensions and proportions inside the gallery: a study of relationships between works from different times, made by different artists.
On the gallery´s façade, the installation Ocitarcomed spells the word democrático [democratic] backwards. The word is mounted upside down using barbed wire wall protection claws to build each letter. The typography alludes to the letters used by tag graffiti artists which function as ciphered codes that are challenging to read. Marcelo Cidade alludes to the current state of Brazilian democracy as something deformed and imprecise.
RAIO [lightning] is composed of a line of tubular lamps which crosses the building of Vermelho and Gross’s exhibition.
The external walls of the gallery were perforated to allow the installation of the work. On the outside, the visitor sees the line of light and, on the inside, the line and the elements of the electrical installation.
In the drawing on the façade of Moscheta´s solo show Sete Quedas, the artist deals with issues related to man´s imprint on the different landscapes of the globe and the interference left by him through constructions, changes in topography and the systematization of the division of the terrestrial globe.
Leandro da Costa presents Comum com outro [In common with another], an oil pastel drawing that transforms the façade into a large blackboard.
In the drawing, a set of fractions in sequence resembles the vision of a horizon where the sun sets. The deformed fractional equation articulates questions about abstraction. The scheme proposes an association between the subjectivities that generate the mathematical convention and the one that organizes the cycles that measure time. Comum com outro seeks to relativize the expression of a quantity starting from a reverie.
