Cássio Vasconcellos has been developing photographic research since the 80’s and has participated in many national and international shows, among them exhibitions at the Stedelijk Museum – Holland, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes – Argentina, El Museo Del Barrio – USA, Fundação Gulbenkian – Portugal, Palais de Tokyo – France.
Some images from the “Nocturnes São Paulo” series is featured in both the Pirelli/MASP and the Polaroid Collections, and have also been included in the contemporary photography book Blink, by PHAIDON.
Vasconcellos has been photographing the city of São Paulo during the last five years. Instead of merely making a photographic register, Vasconcellos is proposing a new view of the cityscape. With a Polaroid camera from the 70’s, Vasconcellos has created a new, more surreal and fantastic city.
The Polaroid photograph, where colors have a different saturation from the traditional photography, is scanned and then printed on neutral cotton paper, with mineral ink to guarantee high durability.
