A___________ social (fig. 17) [The social___________ (fig 17)], 2015
screen printing on plywood.
In the series “A___________ social”
[The social ___________], from 2015, Marcelo Cidade
presents a collection of images gathered from
the internet that shows households intrusion
attempts. In the images, awkward robbers appear
stuck in architectural elements such as windows,
fireplaces and gates. Under each screen print,
Cidade adds aphorisms taken from the text
“social architecture, three critical looks”, by
Luis Santiago Baptista, Joaquim Moreno and Fredy
Massad, where the authors articulate key aspects
of the social implications of architecture in
a world in crisis and conflict. Cidade finally
removes the term “Social Architecture” of each
axiom, leaving in its place a line like that to be
filled by the observer.
